Beenleigh 8 Years Old Magnum Series Edition #2 is a stunning example of Australian distilling history. This release is part of the exclusive collection curated by La Maison and Velier, which pairs exceptional spirits with world-class photography. The bottle features the vibrant work of Alex Webb, a legendary photographer known for capturing the intense colors of the tropics. This large format bottle serves as both a vessel for fine rum and a display of fine art.

The distillery itself dates back to 1884. It sits on the banks of the Albert River in Queensland. The rum is made from molasses sourced from the Rocky Point Sugar Mill, the last private sugar mill in the country. The production method is unique. The spirit first passes through a column still before a second distillation in "The Old Copper," a pot still that has been in use since 1889. This dual process creates a rum with significant weight and character.

Aged for eight years in ex-Bourbon casks, the liquid is bottled at a robust 60 percent alcohol. Despite the strength, the profile is fresh and subtle. The nose offers an abundant fruitiness with notes of banana, pear, and plum. Hints of honey and wax create a smooth texture. On the palate, the rum is lively and generous. Flavors of candied lemon and white peach blend with sweet spices like cinnamon and ginger. The finish is long and silky, leaving lingering tastes of apple, fresh cut sugarcane, and pipe tobacco.
