Domaine Louis Moreau - Chablis 1er Cru Vau Ligneau 2023 750ml

This wine is a perfect example of a classic Chablis Premier Cru. It comes from the Moreau family, who have worked Chablis vineyards since 1814. Today, 6th-generation winemaker Louis Moreau uses sustainable practices. He handpicks the Chardonnay grapes from 10-hectare, south-east facing parcels.

The unique terroir features calcareous and limestone layers. This soil gives the wine its signature minerality and richness. To preserve this purity, the wine is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. It ferments using only natural yeasts, followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. This adds a subtle suppleness to the wine's structure. The wine then ages on its fine lees in tank for at least six months, a step that builds texture.

The result is a wine with a rich yellow-gold color and green hints. The nose reveals lovely aromas of mint, citrus, and pineapple. On the palate, the wine is full and fresh. Buttery and spicy notes add complexity. It finishes with impressive length and persistence.
