Wesake - Junmai Ginjo Sake Can 180ml
Dry and light, straight from the can.
Niigata's crisp, clean style, canned
Brewed by Kaganoi Shuzo - established in 1650 along the Sea of Japan in Itoigawa, Niigata - WESAKE packages authentic regional sake into a modern 180ml single-serve can with a full-aperture pull-top lid. The foundation rests on locally cultivated Gohyakumangoku rice polished down to 60%, maintaining strict Junmai Ginjo standards without brewer's alcohol, added sugars, or preservatives. Unlike standard canned alcoholic beverages back-sweetened or diluted with flavor extracts, this canning preserves Niigata's classic tanrei karakuchi (crisp, clean, and dry) brewing profile, dialed back to an sessionable 12% ABV with a balanced -1 Sake Meter Value (SMV) and 1.3 acidity.
Aromatics open with delicate green apple, honeydew melon, and a subtle steam-rice sweetness. On the palate, light physical weight carries cleanly through the mid-palate, revealing soft rice umami, faint white peach, and a brisk, dry mineral snap. The full-aperture opening allows complete aromatic expression directly from the can without muffling the ginjo bouquet. In-house testing at USQ showed that serving it ice-cold (38°F-42°F) maximizes its crisp finish, making it a versatile pairing alongside fresh nigiri, spicy salmon rolls, pork gyoza, or street-style chicken yakitori. For an effortless low-proof highball, our team recommends pouring 3 oz WESAKE over cracked ice in a highball glass, topping with 2 oz chilled club soda, and expressing a fresh lime coin over the surface.
