Planteray 5 Year Old Barbados Rum showcases the exceptional balance and refinement of the traditional Barbadian spirit. Produced at the historic Stades West Indies Rum Distillery, which was founded in 1893, this expression blends both pot and twin column still distillates. The true magic of this bottle lies in its signature double aging process. The liquid first rests for three years in American oak bourbon casks right on the shores of Barbados. Next, the barrels travel by sea to Europe, experiencing a fascinating dynamic aging process from the motion of the ocean waves. Once in France, the rum undergoes a secondary maturation for two additional years in fine French oak Ferrand cognac casks. This final step adds remarkable structure and a velvety roundness to the spirit.

In the glass, the rum displays a warm golden color with brilliant copper reflections. The nose is highly aromatic, revealing inviting notes of toasted coconut, ripe tropical fruits, sweet vanilla, and rich caramel. On the palate, the medium-bodied spirit delivers a smooth, harmonious flavor profile. Luscious bakery spices and warm brown sugar blend seamlessly with subtle oak wood undertones. While standard commercial mixing rums often lack character or finish with a harsh alcohol burn, Planteray offers a deeply satisfying, multi-layered tasting experience. It stands out from competitors due to its unique maritime journey and historic distillery pedigree. This versatile spirit serves as a sophisticated choice for serious connoisseurs. Enjoy it poured neat to appreciate its mature complexity, or use it to bring an elevated depth of flavor to premium craft cocktails.
