High elevation and century-old rootstocks define the structural framework of Tresmano TM 2020. Sourced from a single parcel in Olmedillo planted roughly 900 meters above sea level on poor clay-loam, these low-yielding centenary vines yield intensely concentrated Tinta del País (Tempranillo). Following manual harvesting in small crates and vine-by-vine sorting, fermentation occurs in a dedicated micro-vat. The wine then matures for 18 months in new French oak barrels, followed by 24 months of cellar bottle aging prior to release. With only 590 bottles produced, it reflects a focused, low-intervention approach to classic high-altitude Ribera del Duero viticulture.
Firm, fine-grained tannins anchor a dense, full-bodied palate balanced by natural acidity typical of cool plateau nights. Brooding black cherry, ripe blackberry, and cassis lead the attack, transitioning steadily into savory black tea, roasted coffee bean, and cracked graphite from the wood contact. Rather than showing overt oak sweetness, the finish lingers with drying mineral grip and cracked pepper. In-house tastings at USQ showed the wine begins tightly wound; decanting 30 to 45 minutes ahead brings optimal delineation. The buying team suggests pairing its density alongside pan-seared duck breast with cherry reduction, slow-braised short ribs, or aged sheep's milk cheeses like Manchego Curado.
