Cana Dura Sugarcane Juice Rum offers a remarkable expression of traditional Mexican craft spirits. Produced by fourth generation master distiller Marcos Lopez, this release captures the unique agricultural heritage of Veracruz. Lopez is a true master of the land. Alongside his sugarcane fields, he cultivates fresh coffee, bright limes, and sweet citrus honey. This deep connection to the local environment shines through in his exceptional distilling.

The production process centers on a resilient, pale green cane variety known locally as Cana Dura. Once harvested, the fresh sugarcane juice is processed through a custom five plate continuous still. This unique piece of equipment, built from stainless steel and copper by his own father, allows Lopez to carefully control the final profile of the spirit.

In the glass, the rum presents an incredibly savory and engaging aroma. The nose opens with unexpected coastal notes of salty tapenade, fresh cucumber, watermelon, capers, and bright lime. On the palate, the liquid transforms beautifully. It delivers crisp layers of nectarine skin and golden apples, smoothed by a touch of warm honey and toasted oat bran. A clean finish of wet rocks brings brilliant structure to the pour.

Bottled at 46.4 percent alcohol by volume, this unaged rum stands completely apart from heavy, artificially sweetened commercial options. It delivers a pure, terroir driven experience. Add this rare Mexican cane spirit to your bar cart and discover the vibrant, savory side of rum.
