Silver Brothers Rye Whiskey Batch 1 marks the exciting debut from a historic farm in Old Chatham, New York. This first release proudly carries the Empire Rye seal, showcasing the true spirit of Columbia County. The mash bill stands out from mass market brands. It features forty percent malted rye, forty percent raw rye, and twenty percent malted barley. Master distillers use a long seven day fermentation process with mineral rich aquifer water. They follow this with a slow double distillation in custom copper pot stills. This careful method builds incredible depth and a smooth texture.
The whiskey rests for three years in thirty gallon new American oak barrels crafted by the Adirondack Barrel Cooperage. The unheated dunnage style barrel house allows the changing New York seasons to shape the liquid naturally. Over six months, the spirit is gently proofed down to a bottling strength of ninety two proof. This slow reduction preserves its rich oils and complex aromas. Workers hand label and number every bottle. This very limited first batch produced only about four hundred and fifty bottles.
In the glass, it shines with a deep amber gold color. The nose offers warm aromas of orange, clove, and brown sugar. On the palate, bright orange and crisp apple blend perfectly with baking spice and sweet vanilla. A bold rye spice defines the long, clean finish. This three year old whiskey offers farm to glass purity. Enjoy it neat, poured over a single ice cube, or mixed into a premium Manhattan cocktail.
