Lost Explorer Reserva de Maestro 2024 Edition Maguey Madre Cuishe Joven is a rare spirit that captures the heart of Oaxaca. Produced in the town of San Pablo Huixtepec, this limited edition mezcal represents the peak of craftsmanship. It begins with the wild Madre Cuishe agave, a plant that grows for twelve years in harsh, rocky soil. This agave is the center of the Karwinskii family and is known for its tall, fibrous stalk. Working with such a tough plant is difficult, but it results in a spirit with incredible depth.

Maestro Mezcalero Fortino Ramos calls this his favorite creation to date. He accepted the challenge to bring out the very best in this wild agave. Through a careful double distillation process, he has tamed the fibrous plant into a liquid of elegance and grace.

In the glass, the mezcal offers fresh aromas of green herbs, pine nuts, and ripe orchard fruits like peach and apple. The texture on the palate is the real star. It feels creamy and buttery, coating the mouth with rich flavors of peanut and almond. A bright touch of orange peel and mineral dust adds balance.
