Unlike commercial dark rums darkened with heavy molasses syrups or sweetened post-distillation additives, the color comes exclusively from traditional house-caramelized sugar burned dry at Foursquare, adding tint without residual sugar. Aromatics hit immediately with rich dried fig, brown butter, vanilla bean, and intense overripe banana before settling into fresh orange peel and green sugarcane grass.
Physical presence on the mid-palate carries dense, oily weight, backed by 114-proof heat that cuts cleanly across the tongue rather than burning. Brown sugar and charred pineapple lead the initial drive, counterbalanced by structured wood tannins and a sharp, citrus-forward finish.
