Germano Ettore Barolo Del Comune Di Serralunga D Alba 2020 is a powerful red wine that captures the heart of its famous village. For generations, the Germano family grew grapes for others. In the 1980s, Sergio Germano decided to bottle his own wine under his father's name. Today, the estate stands out by mixing a rich farming history with careful cellar work.
The vines grow in clay and limestone soils mixed with sand. These soils give the wine its bold and iron rich character. Winemakers pick the Nebbiolo grapes by hand. The juice rests on the skins in tall stainless steel tanks for up to thirty days. This long soak pulls deep color and firm structure from the grapes. The wine then ages for up to two years in oak barrels of different sizes. This choice adds a soft touch of vanilla without hiding the pure fruit.
In the glass, the wine shines with a bright garnet red color. The smell is rich and complex. You will notice ripe red fruit, sweet baking spices, and a hint of forest floor. Beautiful scents of lavender and dried rose mix with earthy roots and iron ore. On the palate, the wine feels full and strong. Firm but elegant tannins coat the mouth. A bright splash of acidity keeps the rich flavors perfectly balanced. The finish is long and savory, leaving a lovely trail of fruit and spice.
Awarded 93 points, this focused and sharp Italian red is ready for your cellar. It will drink beautifully between 2025 and 2038. This bottle is a true standout for any collector of fine Nebbiolo.
