First formulated in 1887 in the Bordeaux village of Podensac, Lillet Blanc pairs a white wine base dominated by Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc with house-made fruit macerations. The winemaking team steeped sweet and bitter orange peels alongside South American cinchona bark directly in neutral fruit spirits before blending the infusion into the wine. Unlike modern aperitifs heavily back-sweetened with corn syrup or artificial flavorings, this classical French aperitif relies on native grape acidity, subtle residual sugar, and gentle quinine bitterness to deliver a structured 17% ABV profile.

Primary aromas open with orange blossom, fresh mint, poached pear, and subtle pine resin. A silky, medium-bodied weight coats the palate with flavors of candied orange peel, wild honey, and passion fruit, which quickly yield to a clean, mouthwatering bitter edge from the cinchona. In-house testing at USQ showed that its structural weight serves as an exceptional modifier for spirit-forward cocktails; our team recommends stirring a Vesper Martini using 3 oz London Dry gin, 1 oz vodka, and 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc, strained into a chilled coupe with a thin lemon peel.
