Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo stands out as a true expression of its region. This wine comes from the Cugnoli area in Italy, where the mountains meet the sea. The estate relies on massal selection vines. This means they use original, diverse plant material rather than standard nursery clones. Some of these vines are over sixty years old and grow on traditional pergola trellises. This preserves the genetic heritage of the area and adds depth to the grapes.
The winemaking process focuses entirely on purity. The fruit is harvested by hand in October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts found on the grape skins. There is no oak aging used here. Instead, the wine rests in steel and bottle to maintain freshness. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered. This approach allows the true character of the clay and limestone soil to shine through.
In the glass, this red wine shows a brilliant ruby color with violet edges. The nose is intense and refined. You will find distinct aromas of sour red cherry and wild violet flowers. On the palate, flavors of blueberry mix with a stony, flinty note. The tannins are smooth and polished, supporting a full body. The finish is long and vibrant, leaving a lasting impression of fresh fruit and earth.
