Rey Campero - Ponche de Frutas Mezcal 750ml

Rey Campero Ponche de Frutas is a rare and festive spirit that captures the true essence of Oaxacan holiday traditions. While many collectors are familiar with meat-infused "pechuga" styles, this limited release focuses entirely on the "Ponche" or fruit punch method. Crafted by Maestro Mezcalero Vicente Sanchez Parada, this spirit is a testament to the deep cultural heritage of the Sierra Sur mountains.

The process begins with 100% Espadin agave, cooked in an earthen pit oven and milled by a traditional stone tahona. After fermenting in pine and cypress vats, the liquid is distilled in copper pots. The magic occurs during the second distillation, where Vicente adds a lush blend of guava, apple, raisin, and cinnamon bark directly into the still.

Distilled in June of 2024 and rested in glass for over a year, this batch is the first of its kind to appear under the Rey Campero label. It offers rich, bursting notes of sweet fruits that wash over the palate. With only 389 bottles produced, this high-proof mezcal is a singular experience for the serious enthusiast.
