The winemaking team crafts this layered blend using fifty three percent Zinfandel, thirty four percent Carignan, seven percent Petite Sirah, and six percent Grenache. They source the fruit entirely from organically farmed sites, including the Gary and Larry Venturi vineyards in Mendocino County and the Frei vineyard in Solano Green Valley. To ensure a light and juicy style, the makers combine fourteen small lots using diverse methods. These include cool carbonic maceration, traditional skin contact, and a unique reverse saignee process that increases the juice to skin ratio. After native fermentation, one third of the wine ages in barrels while the rest rests in stainless steel tanks. The team filters the final wine to make the fruit flavors pop while requiring very little sulfur.
