The Produttori del Barbaresco, a cooperative setting the global standard for the Nebbiolo grape, proudly showcases its single-vineyard complexity through the coveted Riserva line. The Rio Sordo Cru, which debuted in the Riserva series in 1978, has quickly become recognized for its distinctive terroir. Sourced from 4.5 hectares with a southwest exposure, the calcareous limestone and sandy-veined soil contribute to a wine of silky texture and important structure.

The acclaimed 2019 vintage produced a wine with elegant intensity, balanced ripe tannins, and medium body. Following a traditional 28-day skin contact period, the wine is aged for a minimum of 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, a hallmark of the Riserva designation, plus nine months of bottle rest. This extended maturation allows the Rio Sordo character to fully emerge: a ripe, silky fruit on the palate, complemented by intense mineral and spicy aromas. The structure is important and promises a long finish, designed to evolve gracefully over 25 years. This is a Barbaresco of both refinement and strength.
