Jaywalk Straight Rye Whiskey offers an extraordinary departure from standard industrial rye profiles, demonstrating the distinct potential of local agriculture and artisan distillation. Crafted in Brooklyn by the New York Distilling Company, this spirit centers on rare grains sourced directly from the Finger Lakes region of New York. The recipe combines historic Horton heirloom rye with organic Field Race rye, creating a complex botanical depth that mass-produced alternatives cannot replicate. Master Distiller Bill Potter expertly blends individual lots aged for six, seven, and eight years in new charred oak barrels. Bottled at forty-six percent alcohol by volume, this straight rye delivers remarkable character, precision, and elegance.

In the glass, the whiskey displays an inviting deep amber color with warm copper highlights. The bouquet opens with sweet aromatics, revealing honeyed ripe apricot, floral nectar, and gentle baking oak. On the palate, the liquid moves well beyond simple pepper spice. Generous layers of candied pineapple, lush mango, and dark caramelized sugar coat the tongue, supported by a gentle undertone of toasted oak and rye grain. The finish is long and velvety, slowly trailing off with soft tropical fruit and warm, sweet oak. Whether enjoyed neat or as the centerpiece of an elevated Manhattan or Old Fashioned, Jaywalk sets a new benchmark for craft American rye.
