Lost Explorer Tobala Mezcal is a distinguished expression of artistry and sustainability, handcrafted in San Pablo Huixtepec, Oaxaca. Made exclusively from the revered Agave Potatorum, matured for a decade, this mezcal undergoes a meticulous double distillation process, culminating in a flavor symphony. From earthy tobacco to rich cocoa, aromatic vanilla, and subtle leather notes, it strikes a harmonious balance between wood and umami flavors. The journey begins in the sun-soaked Valles Centrales, Oaxaca, where agaves, such as the Tobala, thrive for 8-12 years in their quest for ripeness. Each hand-harvested agave is carefully selected by Maestro Mezcalero Don Fortino Ramos, ensuring the perfect moment of ripeness. The pinas are then roasted in conical earthen ovens, yielding the essence of the earth and a patient sweetness. After milling, the agave ferments naturally, with wild yeasts exclusive to The Lost Explorer Mezcal. This wild fermentation plays a pivotal role in crafting the distinctive character of each mezcal varietal. Double-distilled in copper alembic stills, this mezcal is carefully brought to the perfect bottling strength of 42% ABV.
